Canadian rock singer Dan Rothery's eclectic and unique style reflects inspiration from a variety of experiences in musical genres and international culture.  Growing up exposed to his mother's prowess as a classical pianist, he experimented with a number of instruments including piano, saxophone, and guitar before choosing to focus on songwriting and lead vocals.  A native of Vancouver, the coastal area of which is unusually prolific with musical talent, Dan has traveled extensively the world over and lived internationally for several long stints; in much of his songwriting, Latin American, African, and Arabic expressions can be found by the discerning ear.

Dan began his musical career while visiting Japan in the 1990's where, in addition to learning to speak fluent Japanese, he achieved a teaching rank in traditional martial arts.  Aggressively pursued to work with the otherwise all-Japanese rock band Ancient Youth, he ended up writing the band's original material, and then toured as the band's front man and made appearances on Japanese television.

In Canada, Dan has been prolific as singer, songwriter, and performer.  He underwent classical voice training under the tutelage of acclaimed stage performer Joan Gass, and appeared in musical theatre, including such grand productions as Jesus Christ Superstar. He can be found as a guest vocalist on a number of Canadian recording projects, and was also recruited for his studio talents to co-write and perform on a collaboration titled Transmit F with singer/songwriter A.J. Dowla, and to co-produce and perform on Canadian diva Brigitte's debut CD, entitled Tendrils.

Dan began recording his own solo debut CD, which would eventually be released as Accidental by Fontana North through Universal Records, and would ultimately comprise over 2 years of work at Canadian recording complex of Image Audio Studios with producer Jeff Long, noted for producing a number of popular and award-winning artists.

Dan's first music video single, Accidental Kisses, was created by award-winning music video director Robert Holbrook and producer Robyn Wiener. The video was filmed in Vancouver, B.C. by award-winning cinematographer Danny Novak, who worked on such feature films as The Big Hit and The Matrix.  The music video would go on to win a Leo film award for Best Direction in a Music Video, and gain coveted rotation on the nation's music video channel MuchMusic.

The music video, along with the hit potential of several tracks on his CD, attracted famed radio promoter Bobby Gale of Plug Promotions, known for breaking such acts as Jon Bon Jovi, with whose assistance Dan's songs gained considerable feature airplay and rotation across Canada and regular airplay on Galaxie Rock satellite radio.

Greatly due to the efforts of Jeff Long and Image Artists, Dan has recently begun promotional activities in several European countries, showcasing for media and industry professionals. 2009 marks the release in Europe of Dan's newest single Regret; a European tour and video release is forthcoming.

Dan Rothery can be found presently touring and recording in Europe or appearing in showcase performances anywhere on the  Canadian West Coast.
